Physical Therapist (Somerset & Corbin)

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Physical Therapist to join our team and provide specialized therapy services to children with a wide range of physical challenges. In this role, the Pediatric Physical Therapist will assess, treat, and support children from infancy through adolescence to improve their motor skills, mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and overall physical development. Working closely with families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals, you will create and implement individualized treatment plans aimed at enhancing the child’s ability to perform daily activities, participate in school, and engage in recreational activities. As a Pediatric Physical Therapist, you will use evidence-based practices, play-based interventions, and hands-on techniques to help children achieve their goals. Your work will focus on conditions such as developmental delays, neurological and orthopedic conditions, genetic disorders, and physical disabilities. This role requires a patient, creative, and collaborative professional who can motivate and encourage children to reach their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough physical assessments to evaluate children’s motor function, strength, balance, coordination, posture, and overall physical development.
  • Develop personalized, goal-oriented treatment plans based on individual assessments and the child’s specific needs.
  • Provide hands-on physical therapy interventions to improve mobility, flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination.
  • Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, including exercise programs, manual therapy, and functional mobility training, tailored to each child’s condition and developmental stage.
  • Monitor and track progress, adjusting treatment plans and goals as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to provide education, support, and strategies for home exercises and daily activities that complement therapy.
  • Document treatment plans, progress notes, and updates in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with occupational therapists, speech therapists, physicians, and educators to ensure a comprehensive approach to the child’s care.
  • Foster a positive, motivating, and supportive environment to help children feel engaged and confident during therapy sessions.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest research, techniques, and best practices in pediatric physical therapy.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral or Master's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Active Physical Therapy license in Kentucky.
  • Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients, especially children with developmental, neurological, and orthopedic conditions, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with children, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to create individualized, engaging, and child-friendly therapy plans.
  • Knowledge of pediatric developmental milestones and common physical disabilities in children.
  • Compassion, patience, and a creative, hands-on approach to therapy.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
