Responsibilities
- Support physical therapists by preparing treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for patient sessions.
- Assist patients with mobility exercises, transfers, and basic functional activities under supervision.
- Monitor patient comfort and safety during therapy sessions, providing encouragement and reassurance.
- Manage patient intake procedures, including documentation of medical history and current condition details.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment spaces, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Observe and record patient responses to treatments, reporting any concerns or changes to the therapist promptly.
- Facilitate communication between patients and therapists to enhance understanding of treatment plans and progress.
Experience
- Previous hospital or clinical experience is highly preferred, especially within inpatient or outpatient settings.
- Knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology is essential for effective support roles.
- Experience working with diverse populations such as geriatrics or orthopedic patients is advantageous.
- Sub-acute care or post-acute care experience will strengthen your ability to assist in complex recovery scenarios.
- Familiarity with acute care environments and hospital medicine practices enhances your capacity to adapt quickly.
