Job Title: Physical Therapy Office Coordinator
Reports To: Physical Therapy Front Office Manager
Job Summary: Greets, instructs, and directs patients and visitors. Available to answer phone, schedule physical therapy appointments, assist in verifying benefits, and obtain authorizations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Answers phones and greet patients as they arrive.
- Checks patients in and out, assist with kiosk.
- Schedules, coordinates, and reschedules patient appointments.
- Fax records for Workers’ Compensation and update visit information for carrier.
- Verify insurance benefits, reason codes, enter and verify patient demographics.
- Prepare outcome measures for new patients.
- Ensures all therapy orders are in system.
- Verifies insurance benefits, reason codes, enter patient demographics into EMR system (eCW).
- Obtains all insurance authorizations, including workman’s comp and private insurances.
- Notifies patients of authorization status and payment information.
- Balance cash drawer daily along with daily report of payment collections.
- Assists with coverage of other offices as needed.
- Maintains waiting room.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education:
- High school Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
- Customer Service experience preferred.
- One year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of health insurance and medical terminology preferred.
- Adherence to strict confidentiality/HIPAA compliance.
- Strong computer skills.
- Able to collaborate with others and work independently when needed.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally, clearly, and courteously with patients, co-workers, and others.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and the public.
