PURPOSE:
The Pain Physician’s job necessitates providing appropriate timely assistance and advice to patients seeking health care services. The Pain Physician instructs, monitors, and advises clinic professionals as appropriate. The Pain Physician works in attaining high standards of health care in their clinical expertise area
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND JOB ACTIVITIES:
Perform Administrative Duties To Support The Executive Team
- Supervise the assessment, investigate, and provide treatment to patients.

Interpret medical imaging results such as MRI, CT scans, and ultrasound to inform diagnosis and intervention planning.

Administer interventional procedures such as nerve blocks, epidural injections, and botulinum toxin treatments to alleviate pain.

Share health care duties of patients with other physicians to ensure quality of services that we at IPC provide.

Educate patients on pain management options, lifestyle modifications, and health coaching techniques for sustained relief.

Discuss with patients in providing medical care for any planned absence from work.

Provide care and advise the patients referred by other hospital specialist colleagues.

Issue a discharge summary for every patient.

Ensure that patients understand all treatments and procedures while providing health care.

Maintain effective relationships with patients without any cultural differences while dealing with patients.

Discuss with the Administration/Management any complaints from patients relating to treatment and standards of care.

Provide advice to patients and staff regarding disease prevention and health promotion.

Ensure the accurate maintenance of comprehensive medical records for in and out patients.

Evaluate selected medical records of patients, case notes and discharge letters of patients at peer review.

Instruct, guide, and supervise clinical staff.

Participate in teaching sessions for medical staff.

Suggest new initiatives to assist in providing effective medical services.

Properly identify patients by checking the identification and comparing with the information on the chart as evidenced by observation and documentation.

Current Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as athenaOne, eCW, Epic or other healthcare software platforms.

Proficiency in medical imaging interpretation relevant to pain diagnosis including MRI, CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy.

Strong knowledge of pharmacology related to pain management medications including opioids, non-opioid analgesics, and adjuvant therapies.

Skilled in performing minimally invasive interventional radiology procedures like nerve blocks, catheterizations, and neurolytic techniques.
-
Ability to manage airway during emergencies; experience with ventilator management is advantageous.

Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes; understanding of ICD coding for accurate documentation.

Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and health coaching techniques.

Board Certified in Anesthesia.

MINIMUM LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLS
(Typing and special machinery)
Proficient in the use of the AthenaOne EMR.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Degrees, years in profession)
2 Years of Medical office experience especially at the front desk.
- Previous experience with patient finances.
- Medical office experience is preferred but not required.
- Comfortable with asking patients for money owed.
Special Job Characteristics
Familiarity with medical billing.
- Knowledge of the Arizona payer networks.
- Clear and direct vocal communications.

Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
