Job Title: Physician Assistant (PA-C)
Department: Podiatry
Reports To: Supervising Podiatric Physician

Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA-C) provides comprehensive medical and surgical care to patients with foot and ankle conditions under the supervision of a podiatric physician. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, developing treatment plans, performing office-based procedures, assisting in surgery, managing postoperative care, and promoting positive patient outcomes through evidence-based medicine and patient education.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Care

  • Obtain and document complete medical histories and physical examinations.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of foot and ankle conditions, including:
  • Heel pain and plantar fasciitis
  • Tendon injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Sports injuries
  • Diabetic foot conditions
  • Wounds and ulcerations
  • Fractures and trauma
  • Neuromas and nerve disorders
  • Ingrown toenails and skin lesions
  • Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies, including X-rays, MRI, CT scans, laboratory tests, and vascular studies.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Prescribe medications and durable medical equipment in accordance with state regulations and clinic protocols.

Procedures

  • Perform office-based procedures including:
  • Nail avulsions and matrixectomies
  • Wound debridement
  • Abscess drainage
  • Joint and soft tissue injections
  • Application of casts, splints, and walking boots
  • Biopsies and minor skin procedures
  • Assist in surgical procedures in the operating room as needed.
  • Provide postoperative evaluations and follow-up care.

Patient Education

  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, preventive care, diabetic foot care, wound care, and postoperative instructions.
  • Promote patient adherence to treatment plans and lifestyle modifications.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Complete accurate and timely electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, payer, and clinic regulations.
  • Assist with coding and documentation requirements to support accurate billing.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, physical therapists, home health agencies, hospitals, and other healthcare providers.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinic meetings.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
