University Pain Medicine Center (New York Pain Medicine Associate) specializes in providing advanced interventional pain management solutions to enhance patients' quality of life. With a focus on minimally invasive techniques, the center aims to diagnose and treat painful conditions while reducing reliance on medications and avoiding major surgeries. Utilizing the latest technologies, treatments include x-ray guided injections, epidurals, nerve blocks, and spinal cord stimulators, all performed in outpatient settings for patient convenience. The team is dedicated to compassionately addressing pain management needs and delivering personalized care in a supportive environment.


Role Description

The Physician Assistant will provide clinical support to the medical team in delivering high-quality care for pain management patients. Responsibilities include performing patient evaluations, providing treatment under physician supervision, assisting in minimally invasive procedures, educating patients about treatment plans, and documenting patient records accurately. This is a part-time, on-site role located in New York, NY, requiring direct collaboration with physicians and other clinical staff.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with orthopedic and spine-related conditions
  • Conduct patient histories, physical exams, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
  • Assist in surgical procedures, including pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Perform in-office procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, and wound care
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including imaging and lab work
  • Provide patient education on treatment plans, rehabilitation, and preventative care
  • Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the EMR
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapy, pain management, and other specialties


Qualifications:

  • Active Physician Assistant certification and a valid license to practice in New York state
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent
  • Proficiency in patient evaluation, diagnosis, and documentation
  • Skilled in assisting with interventional pain management procedures
  • Ability to educate patients on treatment plans and provide compassionate care
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Experience in pain management or related medical specialties is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development
