Physician Assistant - Cardiology

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our cardiology group in Rockville, MD. As a Physician Assistant, under the direction of a supervising physician, you will function as an independent healthcare provider working collaboratively within a team to be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services and delivering the cardiac standard of care for all patients in a single-office outpatient setting. You will effectively interact with patients, and other staff while maintaining standards of professional services, medical care, and attention to detail. You will not be expected to round in the hospital. This is a full-time position Mon - Fri. Scheduled on-call hours are required.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive physical examinations of patients
• Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, and chronic illnesses, incorporating evidence-based practices and tailoring treatment plans to the patient's unique needs
• Order and interpret diagnostic procedures and studies, such as labs, echocardiograms, ECG, MRI, and CT, and initiate appropriate interventions based on the results
• Demonstrate competence while performing exercise stress tests (requires delegation agreement addendum for advanced duties approval)
• Prescribe and manage medications for cardiac disorders, adjusting dosages as necessary and monitoring for any adverse effects
• Provide patient education and counseling on disease management, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and prevention strategies
• Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
• Communicate with collaborating physicians or specialists regarding patient care
• Obtain continuing medical education credits necessary to maintain current licensure and board certification
• Functions within the defined scope of clinical practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, certification, regulations, institutional policy, and practice agreements.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience as a Physician Assistant working in cardiology
• Proficiency in ECG interpretation
• Valid and unrestricted Maryland state Physician Assistant license
• Current and unrestricted DEA license
• Current NCCPA board certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients, families, and the healthcare team
• Strong clinical acumen, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and continuous professional development
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems, eClinicalWorks preferred
