Position Overview
Dr. Cornacchia and Apteum Neurosurgery & Spine are seeking an ambitious Physician Assistant (PA) interested in developing expertise in spine surgery, patient care coordination, and clinical operations.
This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career PA who wants substantially more responsibility, mentorship, and growth than is typically available in a traditional hospital-based position.
The successful candidate will work directly with Dr. Cornacchia and participate in all aspects of patient care, including:
- Office consultations
- Surgical planning
- Operating room assistance
- Hospital rounds
- Patient education
- Post-operative care
- Care coordination
- Clinical documentation
- Development of innovative patient-care systems
This is not a routine office position. The candidate will be trained to become an integral member of a growing spine surgery practice and clinical coordination network.
Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform patient histories and physical examinations.
- Conduct pre-operative and post-operative evaluations.
- Participate in treatment planning.
- Review imaging studies.
- Assist in patient education and counseling.
- Manage follow-up care.
Surgical Responsibilities
- First assist during spine surgery.
- Assist with robotic spine surgery procedures.
- Participate in perioperative management.
- Assist with hospital rounds and inpatient evaluations.
Documentation
- Prepare clinical notes.
- Assist with surgical documentation.
- Coordinate medical records and imaging review.
- Utilize AI-assisted documentation tools.
Care Coordination
- Work closely with care coordinators.
- Track patient progress.
- Help ensure timely movement of patients through evaluation and treatment processes.
- Facilitate communication among providers.
Practice Development
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with implementation of new technologies.
- Help develop scalable systems for patient care delivery.
- Contribute ideas for improving efficiency and patient experience.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Eligible for New Jersey licensure.
- Strong communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic.
- Desire to learn.
Preferred:
- Interest in neurosurgery, orthopedic spine surgery, or musculoskeletal medicine.
- Interest in robotics and emerging technologies.
- Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems.
- Interest in leadership and healthcare innovation.
Pay: From $125,000.00 per year
