Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed patient assessments, including physical examinations and vital signs, to determine urological health status.
  • Assist in diagnostic evaluations by ordering and interpreting laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Administer injections such as Botulinum toxin treatments for bladder dysfunction and other urological conditions following aseptic techniques.
  • Manage acute pain and provide triage for urgent urological issues, ensuring timely interventions and referrals when necessary.
  • Support surgical procedures by preparing patients, assisting in the operating room, suturing wounds, and managing post-operative care.
  • Document patient encounters accurately using EMR systems like Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and ICD coding standards.
  • Participate in clinical research trials related to urology, contributing data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings to improve patient outcomes.

Skills

  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and data management.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques specific to urology.
  • Experience administering injections (including dermal fillers or Botox), performing physical examinations, and utilizing aseptic techniques.
  • Critical care experience including ICU or Level I/II trauma center exposure enhances ability to manage complex cases.
  • Familiarity with CPT coding for billing procedures related to urological treatments and ICD coding for diagnoses.
  • Ability to perform triage effectively in outpatient or urgent care settings while managing acute care needs.
  • Knowledge of hospital medicine practices including ventilator management, dialysis support, neonatal ventilator use, and infection control protocols.
  • Experience with telehealth platforms for remote patient consultations and follow-up care.
  • Competence in handling diverse patient populations across geriatrics, pediatrics, family planning, hospice & palliative medicine, and senior care environments.
