Job Overview:

Barkat International College is seeking a skilled and versatile Physics Lab Assistant cum Electrician to support A Level Physics practical work while ensuring reliable electrical infrastructure across the campus. The role requires a combination of academic lab support, electrical expertise, and effective inventory management of lab and technical resources.

Key Responsibilities:Physics Lab Support:

• Assist in conducting A Level Physics practicals in line with Cambridge curriculum requirements
• Prepare, set up, and maintain Physics lab equipment and apparatus
• Ensure proper handling, calibration, and storage of lab instruments
• Support teachers and students during experiments, ensuring accuracy and safety
• Maintain lab readiness for inspections, audits, and practical examinations

Inventory Management:

• Maintain accurate records of Physics lab equipment, tools, and consumables
• Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of lab materials
• Implement proper inventory control systems (stock registers, logs, digital records if applicable)
• Track usage, losses, damages, and repairs of equipment
• Coordinate procurement requirements with administration

Electrical & Technical Responsibilities:

• Independently handle building electrical systems, including wiring, distribution boards, and load management
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical connections, fittings, and fixtures
• Manage and maintain Air Conditioning (AC) systems and related electrical components
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and preventive maintenance schedules
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs, modifications, and upgrades
• Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Proven experience as a professional electrician (mandatory)
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting
• Demonstrated experience in inventory management and record keeping
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Physics, especially practical/lab applications
• Prior experience in a school/college or educational lab environment preferred
• Diploma/Certification in Electrical Technology, Electronics, or related field

Preferred Background:

• Experience in teaching Physics, Electricity, or Electronics, or assisting in labs
• Ex-Army / Air Force / Navy technician background will be strongly preferred

Technical Skills:

• Strong expertise in electrical wiring, fault diagnosis, and safety systems
• Familiarity with Physics lab apparatus and A Level experimental setups
• Ability to manage AC systems and power load distribution
• Competence in inventory systems (manual or digital)
• Working knowledge of electrical tools, testing equipment, and safety protocols
