Key responsibilities
- Patient assessment and diagnosis: Conduct physical examinations to diagnose a patient's condition and create a personalized treatment plan.
- Treatment implementation: Use a range of techniques, including exercises, manual therapy, and modalities like ultrasound, to improve a patient's mobility, strength, and function.
- Patient education: Educate patients and their families on their condition, treatment plan, and strategies for self-management to prevent future injuries or recurrences.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration: Work with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the physiotherapy plan is integrated into the patient's overall care.
- Record keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting treatment, progress, and outcomes according to professional standards.
- Specialized care: Provide treatment for a wide variety of conditions across different departments, such as orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, and pediatrics.
Essential skills and qualifications
- Professional degree: A Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is required, and a Master's degree (MPT) may be preferred for specialist roles.
- Licensing: Must be licensed to practice in India.
- Clinical skills: Strong diagnostic, treatment, and patient management skills are essential.
- Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Problem-solving: Capability to develop creative solutions and adapt treatment plans as needed.
