Position: Full-Time Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) – Non-Sterile & Sterile Compounding
Schedule: Full-time (approximately 40 hours/week). Flexible scheduling with occasional need for oversight outside regular hours.
Compensation: Competitive base salary (120,000/year, commensurate with experience) + monthly volume-based bonus. Eligible for comprehensive benefits package from day one.
About Us:
American Wellness Pharmacy is not your traditional pharmacy. We are a patient-centered practice dedicated to the art and science of personalized medicine. We move beyond the mundane tasks of simply filling prescriptions to explore the therapeutic realm of pharmacy from a different perspective. Our focus is on crafting customized medication solutions through precision compounding, collaborating closely with practitioners to achieve exceptional patient outcomes. We believe in innovation, continuous learning, and empowering our team to practice at the top of their license.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated, entrepreneurial pharmacist leader who is passionate about the transformative potential of compounding and ready to take ownership of a dynamic, growing practice. This is not a desk job—it’s a hands-on leadership role for a clinician who sees pharmacy as a patient-specific science and wants to drive business growth while maintaining the highest quality standards. As PIC, you will lead all compounding operations, ensure full regulatory compliance, mentor staff, and actively contribute to expanding our prescription volume and revenue. Your expertise and leadership will directly impact patient outcomes and the strategic growth of our pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the licensed Pharmacist in Charge, assuming all legal and regulatory responsibility for pharmacy operations in compliance with state and federal laws, including USP <795>, <797>, and <800>.
- Oversee and personally perform all aspects of non-sterile compounding (creams, capsules, troches, etc.) and sterile compounding (injectables, etc.) with uncompromising precision and aseptic technique.
- Manage, train, and mentor pharmacy staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Drive prescription volume and revenue growth through proactive provider outreach, patient engagement, and identification of new compounding opportunities—directly influencing your monthly volume bonus.
- Accurately calculate, prepare, label, and quality-check all compounded medications; maintain meticulous documentation, batch records, and stability data.
- Manage compounding inventory and supply chain, including ordering, receiving, and cost-control measures.
- Ensure rigorous cleaning, maintenance, environmental monitoring, and certification of compounding suites and cleanrooms.
- Collaborate proactively with prescribers, patients, and staff to develop customized treatment plans and provide expert consultation on compounded medications.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, quality assurance programs, and sterility assurance protocols.
- Champion a progressive approach to pharmacy practice, staying current with compounding innovations, functional medicine trends, and regulatory changes.
- Monitor key performance metrics (volume, accuracy, turnaround times) and implement data-driven process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Pharmacist license in good standing in the state, with the ability to serve as PIC immediately.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in both non-sterile and sterile pharmaceutical compounding.
- In-depth knowledge of USP compounding standards, aseptic technique, cleanroom operations, and state/federal pharmacy regulations.
- Previous management, supervisory, or PIC experience highly preferred.
- Strong business acumen with an interest in growing prescription volume and contributing to the pharmacy's financial success.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident engaging with prescribers, patients, and staff.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
- Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable taking initiative.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Compounding (e.g., PCCA, IACP training).
- Prior experience as a PIC or pharmacy manager.
- Experience in a clinical, wellness, or functional medicine pharmacy setting.
- A genuine passion for personalized medicine and exploring the frontiers of pharmacy practice.
What We Offer:
- Base salary of 120,000 per year (equivalent to $58/hour) that recognizes your leadership and specialized skills.
- Monthly volume-based bonus — directly reward your efforts to grow the pharmacy’s prescription count and revenue, with uncapped earning potential.
- Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, paid time off, and retirement plan from day one.
- The opportunity to lead an innovative practice free from the constraints of high-volume, traditional retail.
- The chance to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives through customized care while shaping the future of the business.
- A supportive, collaborative team that values curiosity, precision, and professional growth.
How to Apply:
If you are a self-motivated pharmacist leader ready to escape the routine and own your impact, we want to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a cover letter explaining why you are drawn to this different perspective in pharmacy and how your leadership and compounding experience align with our mission to george@americanwellnesspharmacy.com.
