Pickup/ Intake Assistant

SUMMARY

Perform the duties and responsibilities of store positions to include clothing intake, household items intake, pickup assistant (PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY), and cleaning / organizing functions. Pickup all donated household and related items for the Family Store. Gather, organize, and dispose of all refuse items to include clothing, metal, and shoes.

PICKUP POSITION (Primary Responsibility)

1. Load and unload household items for pickup and delivery.

2. Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles immediately.

3. MUST use proper equipment and have assistance when loading or unloading items.

4. Remove all items, clean cab of all trash, and sweep out truck at the end of each day.

5. Unload truck upon returning with donated loads.

6. Break down and dispose of boxes and put them in the cardboard recycle container.

7. Load Bales truck to include bags of clothes, boxes of books, and household items.

8. Assist customers in loading and unloading purchased and donated household items.

9. Stock shelves, organize shelves, and rotate old items to sales racks and eventually refuse sales trucks. 10. Issue donation receipts to those donating household items.

CLEANING & ORGANIZING

1. Store common areas must be swept and mopped when necessary.

2. Sweep outside store front and pick up trash daily.

3. Sweep and organize Intake processing area daily.

4. Keep all Intake racks and shelves organized, neat, and orderly.

5. Keep Intake area organized, meeting cleanliness standards, and always follow safety standards leaving open walking aisles.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment for workers and customers.

2. GREET customers when entering the store and answer any questions.

3. Provide and inspire outstanding service to our customers.

4. Work efficiently and effectively with volunteers, work experience individuals, and job training students.

5. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Normally acquired through a high school diploma. 2. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting heavy furniture, balancing, walking, and lifting and transporting furniture, refrigerators, and boxed items of clothing and household items.

3. Must be able to lift as much as 75 pounds or more.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primary working conditions are normal for a retail environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $11.00 per hour
