Paraeducator Position

(Grade Level General Para-2nd Grade, 4th grade, 5th grade)

2026-2027

Reports to: Building Administrator

6.5 hours at the Elementary School

Position Description:

Provides instructional support, intervention services, one-on-one support services, tutoring, lunch supervision, student behavior management, general classroom assistance, and other duties as assigned in support of student needs dependent on position.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and others in a warm and confident manner.
  • Ability to provide reteaching of expectations and intervene when necessary
  • Ability to effectively and positively redirect student behaviors.
  • Ability to maintain professional communication with classroom teachers and administrators.
  • Ability to responsibly and respectfully supervise students, accompany students, and ensure appropriate discipline in the classrooms, halls, lunchroom and playground.
  • Ability to be supervised and work professionally with classroom teachers who design schedules and daily activities.
  • Ability to support students with academic support.

Salary Range:
Pioneer Public School Employees Salary Schedule. Hourly $20.04 to $24.66 plus longevity pay at the end-of-the year, dependent on school district experience.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. For eligibility information, check on the link to the Department of Retirement Systems' web site. Employees also have the ability to participate in tax deferred 403(b) and 457 Deferred Compensation Plans (DCP). To enroll in an eligible 403(b) plan, employees must consult with their own financial planner that is an approved vendor.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Effective June 11, 1992, pursuant to Public Law 92544 all new employees must complete a satisfactory fingerprint and sexual misconduct background check. All employment is considered temporary until receipt of satisfactory check. Proof that the fingerprinting process has begun must be supplied to Human Resources prior to the first day of employment.
