Pipe Welding Instructor Position Description
Objective:
Heartland Welding Academy is a design intended to meet the needs of the industrial welding space by going beyond teaching the fundamentals of the trade. HWA has recognized a void regarding the work ethic needed & expected on the jobsite, as well as continued education.
HWA’s focus is targeted towards students that are looking for a non-traditional path towards a professional career. Welding skill sets can take many shapes and with a depleting work force, these skills are highly sought after in today’s market. Our goal is not only to instill welding fundamentals and work ethic expected. It is also to focus on professional development as a craftsman, and help students better understand the career opportunities beyond the weld hood.
Job Description:
The Welding Instructor will be responsible for assisting in the orchestrating and implementing the HWA welding fundamentals and curriculum. They will be accountable for the safe instruction and oversight of facility labs, classroom and student environment. Student success should be seen as a core value. The best candidate for this position will have moderate domain experience in welding application solutions within the Petrochemical, Power, Manufacturing or related industry verticals. This individual must be an educator at heart and have a passion for professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and project a Safety First culture
- Champion HWA core values
- Ensure lab and class safety requirements are adhered to
- Knowledge and experience in the safe operation of applicable welding related tools and assets
- Be accountable for the instruction of safety and safe operation of shop equipment
- Must project a professional and positive attitude when interfacing with students, visitors and personnel
- Maintain and account for all facility assets
- Ensure HWA instruction process, curriculum, and procedures are adhered to
- Responsible for the successful Start and End of each class day
Requirements:
- Qualified in multiple welding process as a pipe welder preferred, but not mandatory
- Proficient in SMAW/ GTAW/ FCAW/ GMAW processes
- Proficient in “in situ” field machining technology (pre-weld processes), but not mandatory
- 2+ years of experience in the welding industry
- 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Oil & Gas, Power, Petro-Chemical, Bio Energy, or Nuclear industries
- Practical training/ leadership experience preferred (e.g., weld instruction, weld inspection responsibilities, project management)
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills
- Self-starter and self-motivated
- Capable of working in a dynamic environment, setting goals and objectives for HWA students
- Ability to successfully implement the HWA curriculum without close supervision or direction
- Manage all levels lab & classroom decision making with the students best interest in mind
- Excellent time management skills, required to manage up to 18 students independently
- Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Represent HWA professionally with a passion for sharing your knowledge
- Patient and controlled demeanor
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
