Pipefitter Apprentice

The Pipefitter Apprentice supports journeyman-level pipefitters in the installation, repair, and maintenance of piping systems in commercial construction environments. This role is part of a registered union apprenticeship program and provides hands-on training, classroom instruction, and progressive skill development.

Job Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Pipefitter Apprentice and kick-start your career in the skilled trades industry! This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in pipefitting, welding, and mechanical systems, providing a solid foundation for a future in construction, manufacturing, or maintenance. You will work alongside experienced pipefitters to learn essential skills such as blueprint reading, pipe threading, soldering, and the use of various hand and power tools. This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to develop technical expertise while contributing to vital infrastructure projects.

Duties

  • Assist with cutting, fitting, and assembling piping systems according to schematics and blueprints
  • Learn to perform MIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), TIG welding, and other welding techniques following ASME codes & standards
  • Support fire sprinkler fitting, HVAC piping, and plumbing installations on construction sites or manufacturing facilities
  • Use calipers, pipe threading tools, tube benders, and other precision instruments to ensure accurate fabrication
  • Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and piping diagrams to guide installation processes
  • Help with rigging and lifting operations to position pipes safely and efficiently
  • Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, materials, and safety equipment

Experience

  • No prior experience necessary; we provide comprehensive on-the-job training for aspiring pipefitters
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems or construction environments is a plus
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, calipers, and basic math skills will support your learning process
  • Previous experience in welding (MIG, FCAW, TIG), plumbing, HVAC, or manufacturing is advantageous but not required
  • Demonstrated interest in technical trades or construction through coursework or related activities is beneficial

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and maintain a strong safety mindset.
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
