Pipeline Operator 1

POSITION SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision from the Pipeline Foreman, the Pipeline Operator I utilizes advanced operational skills to safely, efficiently, and environmentally operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintenance natural gas, crude oil and produced water gathering pipelines and associated gathering facilities to ensure accurate and safe transportation and storage of products.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pigging HP/LP steel and poly natural gas, crude, and produced water pipelines
  • Respond in a timely manner to 811 and other line locate request. Use line locator and probe to identify and mark Grit pipelines. Coordinate locates with customers and 3rd party contractors.
  • Locate pipelines and oversee third-party excavation and line crossings. Install and inspect pipeline markers.
  • Work closely with engineering and construction to build new pipelines and associated equipment.
  • Install, maintain and monitor internal corrosion control and cathodic protection systems and document accordingly.
  • Assess pipeline conditions, recognize and prevent potential human or environmental threats and mitigate risk of safety incidents
  • Manage and document the scheduled inspections, including, but not limited to, ROWs, risers, valves, pig launchers and receivers
  • Performing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to pipelines, as needed.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Work extended hours and overtime as needed and aligned with company policy
  • Serve as a field-wide point of contact during emergencies or significant events
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned to support departmental and company objectives

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Safely operate pipeline and gathering facilities
  • Impeccable integrity, transparency, and commitment to supporting a strong and positive team morale
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for pipeline equipment and facilities
  • Extensive knowledge of LACTs and water transfer pumps
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and behaviors
  • Proficiency in production and office software, including Cygnet, Work, Excel, and Outlook
  • Maneuver heavy objects
  • Secure and maintain company-issued equipment (e.g., vehicles, computers, testing equipment)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Professional integrity and accountability
  • Write legibly, read, and follow directions
  • Safely operate a vehicle in all weather conditions and travel to remote oil and gas locations
  • Willingness to work in hazardous driving and field conditions year-round
  • Understand the safe operation of high-pressure and high-temperature equipment
  • Work independently with minimal supervision

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent related work experience
  • 5-10 years general Oil/Gas field and Lease Operator experience

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • Valid driver’s license

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Previous experience in Oil and Gas Exploration & Production

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10 years’ experience in Oil and Gas Production and Optimization
