Piping Engineer - Steam Turbines

Job Summary:

The Steam Turbine Piping Engineer for "Iraq power project" will be responsible for overseeing the installation, alignment, welding, and testing of piping systems associated with steam turbine operations in a construction environment. The role focuses on high-temperature and high-pressure alloy piping, particularly P91, P11, and P22 materials, ensuring all activities comply with applicable codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.

The position does not involve design or stress analysis work but requires strong practical field experience in the installation, welding, NDT, heat treatment, and hydro-testing of alloy piping systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and monitor site installation of steam turbine piping systems, including proper routing and support.
• Oversee welding activities and ensure compliance with WPS/PQR, especially for chrome-moly pipes like P91, P11, P22.
• Coordinate NDT (RT, UT, PT) and PWHT (Post Weld Heat Treatment) processes as per project and code requirements.
• Conduct and supervise hydrostatic testing and system flushing/blowing activities.
• Ensure adherence to ASME B31.1, ASME Section V & IX, and project-specific quality plans.
• Collaborate with QA/QC teams, contractors, and client representatives for inspections and clearances.
• Maintain proper documentation for installation, welding, NDT, and testing records.
• Participate in walkdowns and punch list resolution prior to commissioning.
• Support troubleshooting and rectification of site issues related to piping during construction phase.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant discipline).
• Minimum 10 years of site experience in piping installation and testing, preferably in power plant or steam turbine projects.
• Proven experience working with P91, P11, and P22 alloy piping.
• Strong understanding of ASME codes, piping construction methodologies, and safety practices.
• Familiarity with welding techniques, heat treatment cycles, and testing procedures for high-alloy piping.
• Ability to read and interpret isometrics, P&IDs, and weld maps.
