PKI Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced PKI Engineer to support enterprise data protection and certificate management initiatives. This role partners closely with security engineering teams to support and communicate activities related to PKI encryption, Venafi, Microsoft PKI, Keyfactor, HSM technologies, certificate lifecycle management, and data protection platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in PKI environments while ensuring clear communication and coordination across internal stakeholders.

Key ResponsibilitiesPKI & Data Protection Support
- Support enterprise PKI encryption initiatives and certificate lifecycle management activities.
- Collaborate with PKI engineering teams utilizing Venafi, Microsoft PKI, Keyfactor, and AppViewX to gather technical requirements and updates.
- Assist in the communication and execution of data protection and encryption-related projects across the organization.
- Promote awareness of encryption and key management practices that help safeguard customer and corporate information.
Certificate Lifecycle & Platform Management
- Support certificate discovery, renewal, onboarding, configuration, retirement, and remediation activities.
- Develop detailed runbooks and operational guides for certificate renewal events, outages, and remediation efforts.
- Design clear guidance for application teams integrating with Venafi, AppViewX, and Keyfactor platforms.
- Assist in the creation of training materials related to certificate request, management, and retirement processes.
Communication & Documentation
- Develop communication plans explaining PKI encryption initiatives and certificate lifecycle changes.
- Prepare internal announcements outlining PKI projects, business impacts, and security benefits.
- Translate complex technical documentation into structured and easy-to-understand content for business and non-technical stakeholders.
- Document communication processes and maintain knowledge-sharing materials related to PKI platforms and services.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with risk, compliance, security engineering, and business stakeholders to communicate policy updates related to PKI usage, certificate standards, and data protection controls.
- Coordinate communication timelines for PKI ELN-related activities to ensure all impacted teams receive timely and actionable information.
- Gather stakeholder feedback and continuously improve communication effectiveness and user adoption.
Incident & Risk Communication
- Support communication efforts during certificate, encryption, or PKI-related incidents.
- Draft impact assessments, outage notifications, recovery updates, and remediation communications.
- Identify communication risks associated with upcoming PKI changes and recommend mitigation strategies such as advance notifications, quick-reference guides, and office-hour sessions.
- Provide concise status reports to management outlining progress, risks, dependencies, and mitigation activities.
Collaboration & Knowledge Management
- Coordinate with collaboration platform owners to ensure PKI-related content is properly published, stored, and searchable within internal communication channels.
- Support hybrid work environments by developing communication approaches that effectively reach both onsite and remote personnel.
- Ensure all communication deliverables align with corporate communication standards, brand guidelines, and regulatory expectations while maintaining clarity and action-oriented messaging.
