About Metaltech
Metaltech, Inc. is a precision CNC machining and fabrication company in Auburn, Washington, serving aerospace, space, and commercial customers who demand exacting tolerances, full traceability, and a supplier that executes with consistency. Our team of approximately 70 professionals supports programs ranging from commercial aerospace to launch vehicles and defense systems. We are growing, and we are looking for people who take pride in getting the details right.
The Role
The Manufacturing Planner – Aerospace/Space is a detail-driven position at the center of how we turn a customer Purchase Order into a finished part. You will own the planning process from PO receipt through production execution – breaking down customer drawings, models, and BOMs into complete manufacturing plans, coordinating materials and outside processing, and ensuring every job hits the floor ready to run. This is not a desk job where you hand off a router and walk away. You will be engaged, accountable, and directly tied to how well we perform for our customers.
What You’ll Do
Manufacturing Planning:
- Review and interpret customer Purchase Orders, drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and full data packages upon receipt.
- Build complete manufacturing plans and production routings in JobBoss (our MRP/ERP system), sequenced to minimize setups and non-value-added steps.
- Identify and document all applicable specification requirements: BAC, ANSI, ASTM, AMS, MIL-SPEC, NADCAP, and customer flow-downs.
- Define inspection hold points within routings and coordinate with the QA team on requirements.
- Plan all outside processing needs – anodize, heat treat, plating, NDT – and manage vendor selection, quoting, PO placement, and part tracking through the OP cycle.
- Source, order, and track raw materials and hardware to support production start dates, verifying certifications and traceability requirements are met.
- Build and maintain job templates for repeat work to improve speed and consistency over time.
Quoting Support:
- Assist Project Managers and estimators on aerospace RFQs, providing routing inputs, cycle time estimates, material needs, and OP requirements.
- Reach out to suppliers and OP vendors to pull pricing and lead times in support of bid development.
- Flag spec, traceability, or capability concerns during quoting before they become production problems.
Vendor Relationships & Compliance:
- Maintain and grow working relationships with local outside processing vendors capable of meeting aerospace and space specification requirements.
- Stay current on aerospace and space specifications (BAC, ANSI, ASTM, AMS, MIL-SPEC) and their application to our work.
- Ensure all job documentation, drawing revisions, and data packages are accurate, organized, and filed per Metaltech document control procedures before jobs are released.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Experience in manufacturing planning, production control, or a similar role in an aerospace or defense precision machining environment.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, 3D models, GD&T callouts, and multi-level BOMs with confidence.
- Working knowledge of aerospace specifications: BAC, AMS, ASTM, ANSI, MIL-SPEC, and customer-specific flow-down requirements.
- Experience with a job-based MRP/ERP system. JobBoss is preferred; candidates with E2 Shop, Epicor, ProShop, or similar experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs across various stages of planning simultaneously.
- The kind of attention to detail that makes you uncomfortable releasing a job until it’s actually ready.
Strong Plus:
- Established relationships with local outside processing vendors (anodize, heat treat, plating, NDT) who can meet aerospace specification requirements.
- Familiarity with NADCAP processes and AS9100 quality flow-down requirements.
- Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software for drawing and model review.
What You Can Expect
- A stable, established company with a strong aerospace and space customer base and a track record of delivering on complex programs.
- A role where your planning work directly impacts on-time delivery and customer satisfaction – you will see the results of what you do.
- A team environment where experience is respected, input is valued, and the work is genuinely interesting.
- Competitive compensation commensurate with your experience and what you bring to the role.
