The Production Planner at Viant handles all administrative aspect of scheduling production notifying the operations manager of changes to the production plan caused by changes in the forecast or actual orders, and communicates on the status of material and labor in order to meet customer demand for products on time.
Responsibilities:- Purchases raw materials, goods and services utilizing purchase orders through Oracle based ERP system.
- Interprets, defines, and communicates materials/service requirements to both internal & external supplier and vendors in a timely manner.
- Monitors and confirms suppliers/vendors delivery of goods and services with necessary quality and competitive pricing and OTD (on time delivery).
- Create work orders in support of on-time delivery objectives.
- Forecast and complete production scheduling for all make-to-stock and make-to-order products.
- Coordinate and determine finished goods and sub-assemblies for production, track jobs to provide release dates of finished goods for customer service (or customer).
- Provide reports and report analysis of production, including analysis of on time vs. late deliveries.
- Review Work in Process & Finished Goods inventory status while providing status updates.
- Follow all reporting and documentation as required by established policies, practices and procedures.
- Work closely with purchasing to analyze inventory levels and product demand to ensure product availability.
- Responsible for working with assigned work center supervisors in the proper tracking and reporting of schedule attainment, including OTD, cycle time and yield for production orders on a weekly basis.
- Releases and manages work order aligned with system recommendations.
- Develops and adheres to procurement best practices, in addition to seeking out and implementing value added opportunities within the applicable supply chain.
- Negotiates pricing/terms with suppliers in conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager.
- Assists in resolving receiving and/or accounts payable challenges.
Requirements:Education:- Bachelor’s Degree or Associates Diploma Preferred
Job Experience:- 1-3 years of relevant work in a procurement/supply chain environment
Skills:- Self-motivated, flexible and able to handle daily tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interface effectively with other people throughout various levels of the organization such as Production leads, material leads, engineers and buyers
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Applications (EXCEL, OUTLOOK, TEAMS, WORD, POWERPOINT)
- Utilization knowledge on ERP systems
- Experience working with Bills of Materials
- Experience negotiating and problem solving
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate level in MS office software (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to work cross functionally in a team environment throughout the organization.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively in teams providing direction to both peers and management
