Job Title: Planning Engineer

Department: Projects / Planning

Location: Pune

Job Purpose:

To support and lead project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and control activities ensuring timely project execution, cost efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 / MS Project .
  • Develop baseline schedules , monitor project progress, and update timelines regularly.
  • Identify critical paths , potential delays, and propose mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors for schedule inputs and progress updates.
  • For Senior level: Lead planning discussions, establish work breakdown structures (WBS), and integrate multi-discipline schedules.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track project performance using measurable indicators (progress %, earned value, etc.).
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports , dashboards, and presentations.
  • Highlight deviations from baseline schedules and suggest corrective actions.
  • For Junior level: Assist in data collection, update daily progress sheets, and support report preparation.

Resource & Cost Planning

  • Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and site teams to align resource allocation with project schedules.
  • For Senior level: Conduct resource leveling and cost loading in Primavera; forecast manpower, equipment, and material requirements.

Coordination & Communication

  • Participate in project review meetings and client coordination for progress updates.
  • Ensure effective communication between planning, site execution, and management teams.
  • Support documentation and record-keeping related to project milestones.

Risk & Delay Analysis

  • Identify potential risks affecting timelines and prepare delay analysis or extension of time (EoT) documentation.
  • For Senior level: Conduct forensic schedule analysis and support claims preparation.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech. in Civil / Construction / Project Management or related field.
  • Experience: 3 - 8 years of experience in project planning and coordination. preferably in residential/commercial real estate.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 , MS Project , and Excel (advanced) .
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing , BOQ , and cost control .
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects (for Senior level).
