The Planning Engineer will be responsible for coordinating between Customer Account
Manager, Production, Purchase, Stores, and Design departments to ensure smooth flow of
orders from confirmation to dispatch. They will prepare production schedules, monitor
WIP, coordinate material availability, and ensure timely execution of jobs as per priority.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Prepare and release daily/weekly Production Schedule based on customer priorities.
- Plan workload for laser, bending, welding, and assembly ensuring balanced capacity
utilization.
- Update and circulate daily WIP (Work in Progress) status.
Inter-Department Coordination
- Coordinate with Customer Account Manager for priorities, delivery dates, and changes.
- Communicate job status to relevant stakeholders on time.
- Follow up with Design Department for timely release of drawings and BOM.
- Coordinate with Stores to check material availability.
Purchase & Material Follow-up
- Prepare and release Purchase Requisition based on BOM and planning requirements.
- Follow up with Purchase team on pending materials, vendor delays, and expected delivery
dates.
- Ensure materials for planned jobs are received in advance.
Monitoring Production & WIP
- Track WIP across laser, bending, fabrication, powder coating, and assembly.
- Identify bottlenecks and coordinate solutions with Production Head.
- Highlight delayed jobs and escalate major issues.
ERP & Data Management - Update job status, material requirement, and schedules in ERPNext. - Ensure accuracy of BOM, routing, and job records. - Generate daily, weekly, and monthly planning reports. Customer Delivery Commitment - Ensure jobs are executed as per customer delivery commitments. - Notify Account Manager about potential delays with reasons and revised timelines. Required Skills & Competencies - Understanding of sheet metal processes. - Good communication and coordination skills. - Strong follow-up and accountability mindset. - Ability to multitask and handle pressure. - Knowledge of ERP systems (ERPNext preferred). - Basic understanding of production flow, BOM, and drawings. Qualifications - Diploma / BE in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering. - 1–4 years experience in production planning. Additional Preferences - Experience in fabrication or sheet metal industry is highly preferred. - Comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Pay: ₹450,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
