The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely execution of construction and fit-out projects. The role includes coordinating with project teams, forecasting project progress, identifying risks, and preparing progress reports. The Planning Engineer ensures project timelines, resources, and milestones are fully aligned with the company’s goals and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed baseline schedules for construction and fit-out projects using Primavera P6 / MS Project.
  • Establish project work breakdown structure (WBS) and activity coding.
  • Plan and forecast manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
  • Prepare target programs, recovery schedules, and revised schedules when needed.

2. Monitoring & Progress Control

  • Track project progress against the approved baseline schedule.
  • Update schedules regularly and identify delays, variances, and critical paths.
  • Coordinate with site engineers, procurement, QS, and subcontractors to collect actual progress data.
  • Propose corrective actions and mitigation plans to achieve project milestones.

3. Reporting

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, histograms, and S-curves.
  • Present schedule updates, critical issues, and delay analysis to management and clients.
  • Support claims and extension-of-time (EOT) submissions with time-impact analysis (TIA).

4. Coordination

  • Attend project coordination meetings and provide schedule-related insights.
  • Work closely with project managers, design teams, procurement, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure alignment of schedule with procurement, cost control, and site execution strategy.

5. Risk & Delay Analysis

  • Identify potential risks, constraints, and schedule slippages.
  • Perform delay analysis using approved methods (TIA, Window Analysis, As-Built vs. As-Planned).
  • Support dispute resolution and contract administration.

Qualifications & SkillsEducation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

Experience

  • 3–7+ years of experience in planning for construction and fit-out projects (interior fit-out, retail, F&B, commercial, residential, etc.).
  • Proven experience using Primavera P6 and MS Project.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of project planning techniques and critical path method (CPM).
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of construction sequencing, fit-out works, MEP coordination, and procurement cycles.
  • Knowledge of contract documents, BOQs, and cost-loaded schedules.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED5,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
