Planning Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Planning Engineer to manage project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring for steel fabrication and erection projects. The candidate will be responsible for developing baseline schedules, tracking progress, and ensuring timely project delivery through effective coordination with all departments.

Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Scheduling

• Develop detailed baseline schedules using Primavera P6
• Prepare work breakdown structure (WBS) and activity sequencing
• Define project timelines, milestones, and critical path

2. Progress Monitoring & Control

• Track project progress against baseline schedule
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
• Identify delays and propose mitigation/recovery plans
• Monitor fabrication, delivery, and erection progress

3. Lookahead & Execution Planning

• Prepare 2-week / 3-week lookahead schedules
• Coordinate with site and production teams for execution planning
• Ensure resource availability aligns with schedule requirements

4. Coordination with Teams

• Liaise with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Production & Procurement Teams
• Conduct planning meetings with internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure alignment between engineering, procurement, and construction activities

5. Delay Analysis & Claims Support

• Perform delay analysis (EOT support)
• Prepare documentation for claims related to delays
• Support commercial/QS team with planning data

6. Resource Planning

• Plan manpower, equipment, and material requirements
• Monitor resource utilization and productivity
• Optimize resource allocation to avoid delays

7. Reporting & Documentation

• Generate S-curves, dashboards, and progress charts
• Maintain planning logs, reports, and project documentation
• Present progress updates to management and clients

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in construction projects
• Mandatory experience in steel structures / PEB / fabrication & erection
• GCC experience preferred

Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Primavera P6
• Good knowledge of MS Excel (reporting & analysis)
• Familiarity with project control tools and reporting systems
• Understanding of construction sequencing and methodologies
