Job Purpose:

The Planning Engineer is responsible for planning, monitoring, and controlling project activities to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution. The role involves tracking engineering, procurement, construction progress, manpower, materials, plant, and machinery utilization, while identifying risks, delays, and cost-related issues. The Planning Engineer will also support management reporting and coordinate with internal departments to maintain project schedules and performance standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, update, and monitor project schedules using Primavera P6 .
  • Review and verify project data and ensure proper linkage within project programs for accurate progress measurement.
  • Track project progress against approved baselines and identify schedule variances or delays.
  • Coordinate with project teams, engineering, procurement, site execution, and accounting departments to collect and validate project information.
  • Monitor project expenditures, calculate incurred costs , and report balance quantities and prevailing rates.
  • Assist in cost control activities by highlighting cost-related risks and deviations.
  • Prepare and maintain logs related to project wastage and submit weekly summaries for management review.
  • Generate periodic reports including:
  • Project progress and completion reports
  • Productivity reports
  • Wastage reports
  • Updated project timelines and recovery plans
  • Provide planning data and reports to the Planning Manager as required.
  • Ensure timely submission of weekly and monthly reports.
  • Support project teams in achieving project milestones and delivery targets.

  • Accuracy of project schedules and reports
  • Percentage of errors or missing project data
  • Timely submission of weekly and monthly reports
  • Effectiveness in identifying delays and cost variances
  • Accuracy of cost tracking and expenditure reporting
  • Coordination efficiency with internal departments and site teams


Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in planning and project controls within the contracting or construction industry
