Job Title: Planning Engineer (Contracting Company - Planning & Handover)
Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Job Objective
The Contracting Planning Engineer is responsible for accurate quantity take-off, pricing, and project scheduling using Primavera P6. The role includes managing authority submissions, coordinating inspections, and preparing complete handover documentation leading to the issuance of the Building Completion Certificate (BCC). Ensures all project deliverables comply with contractual, technical, and governmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Quantity & Cost Control
- Prepare and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for all project disciplines based on drawings and specifications.
- Conduct on-site quantity verification and update progress quantities for monthly claims and cost control.
- Analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations and prepare detailed comparison sheets.
- Coordinate with the Procurement Department to ensure timely material approvals and delivery.
Project Planning
- Develop, update, and maintain the project schedule using Primavera P6.
- Link quantities, costs, and KPIs (SPI/CPI) for accurate monitoring and forecasting.
- Analyze schedule and cost variances and propose corrective actions.
Authority Submissions (Abu Dhabi Municipality – MEPS System)
- Manage all submissions through the MEPS system, including uploading drawings and technical documents.
- Coordinate with consultants for revisions and re-approvals.
- Schedule, attend, and document authority inspections.
- Complete all requirements to secure the Building Completion Certificate (BCC).
Project Documentation & Handover
- Handle documentation and progress updates through the FAB (First Abu Dhabi Bank) Portal.
- Prepare and organize final handover documentation (Handover Dossier) for submission to authorities, developers, and consultants.
- Coordinate with relevant authorities (Municipality, Civil Defense, ADDC, DoE, etc.) to obtain all required NOCs and approvals.
- Maintain organized records of submissions, approvals, and correspondences as per company and authority standards.
Reporting
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly progress reports, including quantity updates, schedule status, and authority submission progress.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in contracting companies within the UAE.
- At least project planning and tender response preparation.
- With authority coordination and project handover.
Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and MS Excel (Advanced).
- Strong working knowledge of Abu Dhabi Municipality’s MEPS System for drawing approvals, inspections, and completion certificates.
- Familiarity with FAB Bank Portal and related project documentation processes.
- Understanding of FIDIC Contracts, variation claims, and payment certificates.
Soft Skills:
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with consultants, authorities, and developers.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Professional report writing skills in English are an advantage.
