Planning Engineer (E&I)

Role Overview

The E&I Planning Engineer will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules for Electrical & Instrumentation works within ADNOC MEI projects. This role requires strong expertise in Primavera P6, deep understanding of MEI construction sequences, and the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely execution of project deliverables.


Experience Requirements

  • 6–12 years total experience in Oil & Gas / EPC projects
  • 5–8 years experience in MEI construction projects
  • 5–8 years dedicated experience in E&I planning and scheduling
  • ADNOC project experience is highly preferred


Key Responsibilities

1. Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop detailed Level 3 & Level 4 schedules for E&I activities using Primavera P6
  • Integrate E&I scope into the overall MEI project schedule
  • Establish logical construction and commissioning sequences
  • Ensure alignment with project milestones and ADNOC requirements

2. MEI Work Integration

  • Coordinate E&I activities with Mechanical, Piping, and Civil teams
  • Align cable routing, instrument installation, and equipment erection plans
  • Support system/subsystem‑based commissioning strategies

3. Progress Monitoring & Control

  • Track physical progress for E&I works (cable laying, glanding, termination, loop checking)
  • Monitor productivity and KPIs against planned targets
  • Identify schedule deviations and propose mitigation/recovery actions
  • Maintain accurate progress measurement systems

4. Look‑Ahead & Readiness Planning

  • Prepare 3‑Month, 6‑Week, and Weekly look‑ahead schedules
  • Ensure availability of:
  • Approved IFC drawings
  • Materials and equipment
  • Work permits and site access
  • Maintain and update constraint logs

5. Resource Planning

  • Develop manpower histograms for E&I construction crews
  • Apply standard productivity norms (MH/Unit)
  • Optimize resource allocation based on site priorities and constraints

6. Reporting & Client Coordination

  • Prepare ADNOC‑compliant daily, weekly, and monthly reports
  • Present progress updates, issues, and recovery plans to stakeholders
  • Participate in internal and client progress meetings
  • Support project controls and management teams with schedule insights

7. Delay Analysis & Claims

  • Perform schedule delay analysis using:
  • Impacted Schedule Method
  • Fragnet Analysis
  • Windows Analysis
  • Support preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims
  • Maintain proper documentation for claims and schedule impacts

Technical Skills Required

  • Primavera P6 (Mandatory)
  • Advanced MS Excel (dashboards, S‑curves, tracking tools)
  • Strong understanding of E&I construction activities:
  • Cable laying, glanding, termination
  • Instrument installation & calibration
  • Loop checking & pre‑commissioning
  • Knowledge of MEI construction sequencing and systemization
  • Experience preparing S‑Curves (Planned vs Actual)
  • Ability to prepare delay, variance, and recovery reports

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proactive approach to planning and risk identification
