Planning Manager

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, review, and maintain baseline programs for tender, pre-construction, and execution stages.
  • Prepare detailed construction programs showing sequencing, logic links, and resource allocation in line with project strategy.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment between schedule, scope, and budget.
  • Identify critical paths, float, and potential bottlenecks, recommending mitigation measures proactively.

2. Progress Monitoring & Control

  • Prepare and update weekly and monthly progress reports, including S-Curves, Earned Value Analysis (EVA), and delay impact assessments.
  • Conduct site visits to validate progress and ensure data integrity in the program updates.
  • Forecast completion dates and analyze deviations between planned and actual progress.
  • Monitor manpower histograms, equipment utilization, and productivity trends to support resource optimization.

3. Delay Analysis & Claims Support

  • Prepare time impact analyses (TIA) and delay reports for variation and extension of time (EOT) claims.
  • Liaise with the Contracts/Commercial team to provide technical input for claims substantiation.
  • Review subcontractor schedules for compliance and integration into the master program.

4. Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and mentor a team of planning engineers, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Interface with client representatives, consultants, and subcontractors on planning and scheduling matters.
  • Ensure consistency of planning processes and reporting formats across all projects.
  • Support tender and pre-qualification submissions by providing planning data, methodology, and preliminary programs.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum 12–18 years in construction planning, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity within a main contracting environment.
  • Software Skills: Expert in Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, and familiar with Power BI or other analytics tools.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and resource management for high-rise, infrastructure, or mixed-use developments.
  • Other Requirements:
    Excellent analytical and communication skills.
    Strong leadership and coordination abilities.
    Knowledge of FIDIC conditions and EOT claim protocols preferred.
    Proven track record in delivering projects under tight deadlines.
