Planning and design
- Develop project plans: Create comprehensive plans that include timelines, resource allocation, and procurement strategies.
- Conduct feasibility studies: Perform site assessments to determine project requirements and potential constraints.
- Collaborate on design: Work with architects, engineers, and other specialists to develop project designs and technical drawings.
Execution and oversight
- Manage project execution: Lead the planning, design, and execution of civil projects, ensuring they meet all specifications and regulations.
- Oversee construction: Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure alignment with design and safety standards.
- Coordinate teams: Direct and coordinate the work of contractors, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Manage resources: Allocate and manage resources, including labor, finances, equipment, and machinery.
Budget and schedule
- Develop and manage budgets: Create and control project budgets to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Create and maintain schedules: Prepare and manage detailed construction schedules, often using software tools to track progress and handle unforeseen delays.
- Monitor progress: Track project performance against key indicators and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Compliance and risk management
- Ensure regulatory compliance: Review and ensure the project adheres to all relevant state, government, and safety regulations.
- Manage safety: Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
- Conduct risk assessment: Identify and mitigate potential project risks.
- Manage documentation: Oversee project documentation, including contracts, permits, and change orders.
Communication and stakeholder management
- Liaise with stakeholders: Communicate with clients, contractors, suppliers, architects, and other parties to ensure alignment and resolve issues.
- Report on progress: Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders on project status, milestones, and budget.
- Facilitate meetings: Conduct regular meetings to communicate updates, address challenges, and ensure project objectives are met.
