Job Description: Planning & Scheduling Engineer
The Planning & Scheduling Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects. The role involves coordinating with project managers, engineers, procurement, and construction teams to analyze progress, identify delays, and propose corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain project schedules using tools.
- Prepare baseline schedules, resource loading, and cost curves aligned with project objectives.
- Monitor and track project progress, identifying deviations from the plan and analyzing their impact.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to collect progress data and update schedules.
- Conduct delay analysis and propose recovery plans to mitigate risks of slippage.
- Prepare regular progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly) for management and clients.
- Support project management in claims, variations, and extension of time (EOT) requests with proper documentation.
- Develop “what-if” scenarios and schedule simulations to support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with project planning procedures, contractual obligations, and industry standards.
- Assist in forecasting manpower, equipment, and material requirements to ensure proper resource allocation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: 3–7 years of relevant experience in project planning and scheduling (construction, oil & gas, power, infrastructure, or related industries).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and contract administration.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) and Critical Path Method (CPM).
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
