Plant Foreman – Water/Wastewater Treatment
Location: Tallahassee, FL
Employment Type: Full-time

Position Summary

Lead multi-discipline plant crews building water/wastewater treatment facilities. You’ll supervise and coordinate yard piping, concrete, process piping/equipment, start-up, and punch-out while driving production, quality, and safety.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Directly supervise multiple crews (yard piping, concrete, process piping/equipment, start-up, punch-out).

  • Serve as the on-site Safety Manager; identify, report, and correct hazards/near misses.

  • Plan daily work from the project’s 4-week schedule and execute to plan.

  • Coordinate materials, equipment, inspections, and subcontractors.

  • Train/coach crew members; maintain accurate daily reports and timecards.

  • Support layout and quality checks; verify work meets plans/specs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Technical)

  • Read/interpret plans, specs, P&IDs, I&C, and electrical one-line diagrams.

  • Construction math; calculate quantities and elevations.

  • Set up/use rotary lasers, builder’s level, and total station.

  • Yard piping: push-joint, MJ, restrained (TR-Flex), HDPE, RCP/CPP/PVC.

  • Process piping: DI, stainless, FRP, PVC; set pumps and process equipment.

  • Plan pipe excavations around existing utilities; basic dewatering setup/tuning.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA/PSCC safety rules, NPDES/BMPs.

  • Basic IT: smartphone/iPad for forms, reports (e.g., HeavyJob or similar).

  • Heavy equipment operation familiarity (as needed for scope).

Physical Requirements

  • Stand/sit for long periods; repetitive use of controls; climb in/out of equipment.

  • Distinguish jobsite sounds (backup alarms, voices, equipment).

  • Lift up to 40 lbs.

Environmental Adaptability

  • Work outdoors in all weather, various locations, and times of day.

  • Required PPE: hard hat, eye/ear protection, hi-vis apparel.

Training & Experience

  • 5–10 years of treatment plant construction experience (foreman level).

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Competent Person, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Crane Safety/Rigging credentials.
