Job Description

The Plant Head is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the manufacturing plant, with a focus on meeting production targets, ensuring quality standards, managing the plant's budget, and leading staff while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.

Key responsibilities and qualifications are outlined below:

Ø Job Location: Tilda Industrial Area, Raipur,

Ø Reports To: Management,

Ø Required Qualification: B.E (Mechanical / Industrial) or related field. MBA in the relevant field will be an advantage,

Ø Required Experience: 20 to 25 years relevant experience in infra manufacturing set up (fabrication industry), with at least 10 years’ experience in managerial or leadership role.

Ø Preferred Industry: From Fabrication manufacturing industry with strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding standards, drawings, and project-based manufacturing,

Ø Software Knowledge: MS Office, Outlook, ERP, SAP,

Ø Salary Budget: Best in the industry,

Ø Required by Date - At the earliest.

Key Responsibilities: -

1. Production & Operations Management

  • Plan, organize, and control fabrication operations (cutting, bending, welding, machining, assembly, surface treatment).
  • Ensure achievement of production targets in line with delivery schedules.
  • Optimize capacity utilization, cycle time, and throughput.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing, 5S, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.

2. Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
  • Oversee QA/QC systems, inspections, NDT, and documentation.
  • Reduce rework, rejection, and customer complaints.
  • Support audits (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, customer audits).

3. Cost Control & Profitability

  • Control manufacturing costs, wastage, scrap, and rework.
  • Monitor material consumption, productivity, and overheads.
  • Prepare and manage plant budgets.
  • Drive cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives.

4. Maintenance & Asset Management

  • Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of fabrication equipment (CNC machines, welding machines, presses, cranes, compressors).
  • Maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Plan for new machinery, upgrades, and capacity expansion.

5. Supply Chain & Planning

  • Coordinate with planning, purchase, stores, and logistics teams.
  • Ensure availability of raw materials and consumables.
  • Manage inventory levels and reduce excess or obsolete stock.
  • Ensure timely dispatch and customer delivery.

6. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure compliance with safety, statutory, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote safe working practices and zero-accident culture.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.

7. Manpower & Leadership

  • Lead and develop production, quality, maintenance, and support teams.
  • Manpower planning, training, performance evaluation, and discipline.
  • Build a high-performance, accountable team culture.
  • Resolve workforce issues and maintain industrial harmony.

8. Customer & Management Coordination

  • Act as the primary point of contact for plant-related customer issues.
  • Review project status, delivery commitments, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present MIS reports to top management.
  • Support new product development and trials.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) -

  • Production output vs plan
  • On-time delivery (OTD)
  • Cost per unit / productivity
  • Rejection and rework levels
  • Equipment uptime (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Safety incidents
  • Customer complaints

Required Skills & Competencies -

  • Strong leadership, team building and decision-making skills
  • In-depth knowledge of fabrication, welding, and structural manufacturing
  • Cost management and analytical skills
  • ERP/MRP systems knowledge
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
