Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Plant Manager to oversee daily operations at our pallet recycling facility. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining safety standards, managing staff, providing great quality while offering excellent customer service, and driving continuous improvement in recycling processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing or recycling operations, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to sustainability and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all plant operations including sorting, repair, recycling, and inventory management.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety among all employees.
- Manage and lead plant staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Monitor production metrics and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed.
- Collaborate with logistics and sales teams to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, including labor, materials, and maintenance costs.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company sustainability goals.
- Implement and maintain quality control standards for recycled pallets.
- Report regularly to senior management on plant performance, safety incidents, and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in plant management, preferable in the pallet industry whether it’s recycled or new.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to improve operations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with pallet equipment.
- Experience with inventory and production management systems is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift certification and experience with pallet equipment.
- Demonstrate experience leading teams or overseeing operations in the pallet industry, with a strong understanding of industry standards and best practices.
Work Environment:
- This position is primarily field based, with approximately 70% of the work conducted outside of a traditional office setting. While some administrative and planning tasks may occur indoors, the role demands a high level of engagement with on-site operations, outdoor environments, and hands-on oversight. Candidates should be comfortable working in dynamic, non-desk settings and be attentive to operational details in the field.
