Job Summary
The Plant Manager – Glass Line Manufacturing is responsible for overall management and performance of the glass manufacturing plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role oversees production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and HSE, with a strong focus on productivity, yield improvement, and continuous process optimization.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Production
- Lead end-to-end glass manufacturing operations including batch house, furnace, forming, annealing, inspection, and finishing.
- Ensure production targets are met in terms of volume, quality, and delivery timelines.
- Optimize furnace performance, line efficiency, and yield.
- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
- Reduce defects, breakage, and rejections through root cause analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement in process control and product consistency.
Maintenance & Engineering
- Ensure high equipment availability and uptime.
- Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Manage furnace campaigns, major shutdowns, and capital projects.
Cost & Resource Management
- Control manufacturing costs, including energy, raw materials, and consumables.
- Minimize wastage and improve overall cost per ton.
- Prepare and manage plant budgets.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the plant.
- Lead accident prevention, audits, and compliance initiatives.
People & Leadership
- Lead and develop production, engineering, and support teams.
- Drive performance management, training, and succession planning.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with sales, supply chain, procurement, and logistics.
- Prepare and present operational reports, KPIs, and improvement plans to management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Chemical / Glass Technology or related field).
- Postgraduate qualification in Operations or Management is an advantage.
Experience
- 12–18+ years of experience in glass manufacturing.
- Minimum 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing glass production lines.
- Strong exposure to furnace operations, forming technology, and quality systems.
