Plant Sales and Delivery

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Yard Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service and supporting daily nursery operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent driving skills, and a solid knowledge of plant materials to assist customers with product selection and questions.

This role includes stocking, merchandising, and maintaining plant inventory, as well as delivering landscaping materials to customers in a safe and timely manner.

Job Type: Full-time 35-40hrs

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong customer service skills
• Previous experience working in a retail landscape nursery, especially with basic plant knowledge, is preferred but not required.
• Experience operating yard equipment (e.g., skid steer, bobcat, forklift, etc.) is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of landscaping materials and tools is a plus.
• Able to drive single-axle dump truck, no CDL required.
• Able to drive truck and 20’ trailer
• Able to operate a skid steer, a plus.
• Clean driving record
• Able to pass both a DOT physical and a drug test.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for helping customers.
• Ability to work well on a team, and communicate effectively, while multitasking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Service

• Provide outstanding customer service by assisting customers with plant selection, product knowledge, planting/care advice, and loading products as needed.
• Have a good understanding of the products and services offered.
• Assist in receiving, unloading, and organizing deliveries of landscape materials, ensuring that products are properly displayed and maintained.
• Assist in pest management, weed control, and environmental controls to ensure optimal plant health as directed.
• Follow standard procedures for ticket write-up to facilitate accuracy at checkout and inventory control.
• Assist in order fulfillment by:
• Accurately pulling customer orders, including gathering products from different locations in the yard as needed & appropriate.
• Accurately loading materials for delivery

Yard Organization and Maintenance:

• Maintain a clean and safe yard by proactively removing debris, sweeping pathways, and ensuring all materials are stored neatly.
• Ensure that products are displayed in an organized and easy-to-access manner
• Assist in maintaining proper labeling and signage of products.
• Ensure compliance with OEI safety practices and safety regulations/environmental policies when using chemicals or machinery, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all equipment used in the yard and report any needs, malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Yard Supervisor or Manager.
• Keep work/retail areas clean and free of hazards to prevent accidents.
• Assist with store maintenance, including outdoor areas, landscaping, and special projects.
• Assist in maintaining proper labeling and signage of products

Delivery and Transportation

• Perform safety checks on delivery equipment and report needs to the Yard Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicles inside, exterior, and dump bed.
• Facilitates the timely delivery of landscaping products and ensures that the tasks are accomplished safely and efficiently.
• Assist in, and ensure accurate quantities and types of materials are loaded per customer orders.
• Able to unload products from delivery vehicles, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage. This includes hand unloading and the operation of a dump bed
• Ensure all items loaded into the delivery vehicles are secured and covered to prevent damage or incidents during transit.
• Follow company safety protocols while driving, including hands-free phone use, observing traffic laws, maintaining safe speeds, and following distance.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, and carry up to 50lbs (e.g., bags of soil, plants)
• A fast-paced environment with work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to walk/stand for extended periods.
• Ability to work 8-hour shifts.

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
