Role Summary
The Plant Superintendent is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality operation of all plant activities. This leader will manage daily production, supervise plant personnel, enforce safety and quality standards, develop systems, and drive continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring floor presence, decision-making, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Production
- Lead all daily manufacturing operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets
- Translate production schedules into executable floor plans
- Identify bottlenecks and drive throughput improvements
- Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and workflow
Leadership & Team Development
- Directly manage team leaders and hourly production staff
- Build a high-accountability, high-performance culture
- Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Conduct daily production meetings
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce plant safety standards
- Ensure compliance with internal safety programs
- Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
Quality & Process Control
- Enforce quality systems and work standards
- Partner with Quality to reduce defects, rework, and scrap
- Implement standardized work and layered process audits
Continuous Improvement
- Drive Lean, 5S, and waste-reduction initiatives
- Lead kaizen events and process optimizations
- Use data and KPIs to guide decisions
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Materials, and Leadership
- Support new product launches and production scaling
- Communicate production risks and mitigation plans
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience (Supervisor, Manager, or Superintendent level)
- Proven experience leading production teams of 30+ employees
- Strong working knowledge of safety systems, Lean manufacturing principles, production scheduling/labor planning, and quality systems
- Ability to lead in fast-changing, ambiguous startup environments
- Strong communication, accountability, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Startup or build-from-scratch plant experience
- Automotive, heavy equipment, fabrication, or assembly background
- Experience scaling production operations
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
