The Hambelton Company is a high-end landscape, site, and masonry company focused on delivering elevated outdoor spaces with attention to detail and craftsmanship. We are growing quickly and looking to add the right person to help guide and elevate our planting operations.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Planting Specialist / Horticulture Lead to support and guide our crews with plant selection, installation, and care. This role is ideal for someone with strong plant knowledge who enjoys being in the field and working alongside a team — not just behind a desk.

This is not a design-only role and not an entry-level labor position — we’re looking for someone in the middle who can bring knowledge, direction, and confidence to our planting work.

Responsibilities

• Guide crews on proper planting techniques and best practices
• Assist with plant selection based on site conditions (sun/shade, soil, drainage, etc.)
• Oversee layout and installation of plantings at job sites
• Ensure quality control on all planting work
• Identify plant health issues and recommend solutions
• Work alongside crews as needed to execute installs
• Communicate with management on plant needs, issues, and recommendations

Qualifications

• 2–5+ years of experience in landscaping, horticulture, or plant-related work
• Strong knowledge of common plants, shrubs, and trees in New England
• Ability to identify plants and understand their care requirements
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead/guide a team
• Valid driver’s license not required by preferred

Nice to Have (but not required)

• Experience with high-end residential or commercial properties
• Basic understanding of irrigation and plant health treatments
• Spanish-speaking is a plus
