Description
The Team Lead plans, organizes, and directs a range of training and compliance activities. The Team Lead is the Shift Supervisor’s direct link assisting in all capacities to provide quality and efficient management of the production floor as well as ensuring order in all areas.
Responsibilities
Initial and Ongoing training of new and existing employees
- Arrange the job training and tablet training for new employees and sign required documentation
- Train Machine Operators on quality criteria and changes made as necessary. Train during the first hour and throughout the shift to ensure that all jobs are performed at optimal levels
- Guide employees and improve their job skills
- Ensure accuracy of completed production sheets, additional paperwork, and logged information
- Monitor the Machine Operator use of the tablet and scanner for inventory control system to track labor, operation hours, good parts, reject parts, and scanning all finished products to a location
Quality
- Routine hourly checks of each machine, alert Shift Supervisor of any issues
- If issues are found, support with sorting, reworking, or repacking as needed to meet requirements
Production
- Alert Shift Supervisor of any issues regarding scrap levels, downtime, and cycle times
- Startup, shutdown, and troubleshooting of molding machines, robots, and secondary equipment
- Purging out machines
Inventory Control
- Tag all finished product with “OK to ship” tags once released by Quality
- Verify finished product is scanned to inventory, use hand scanner to move to correct location
- Support changing out work orders in the tablet once a job is complete and update board
Maintain Safety and Clean Floor
- Ensure floor conditions are clean at all times, including free from clutter, oil, and debris
- Ensure escape routes, fire extinguishers, and electrical panels are unobstructed
- Ensure that parts are ground before end of shift. All scrap produced in your shift is taken care of
- Ensure that regrind is used correctly
- Ensure that material and product is put away orderly and in correct spot
- Ensure dumpster area is clean
- Monitor stacking of materials on production floor.
- Assist with automatic presses that are assigned to the Lead Team
- Report any safety issues in their work area to the Shift Supervisor immediately
- Other duties and secondary functions as assigned

Physical
- Stand for a normal 8-hour shift
- Occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Must have full range of body movements including use of hands to handle or feel objects
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Repetitively grab, flex, and twist hands, shoulders, and upper extremities
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Due to time-sensitive nature of manufacturing, some overtime including 12-hour shifts and weekend work may be required
- Must wear personal protective equipment as required
Preferred Education and Experience
- Prior experience as Machine Operator or Lead Team position
- Forklift certification is required
- On the job training will be monitored by evaluations
