Responsibilities include servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing water, sewer, or gas distribution lines. The candidate will be required to repair, replace, and maintain valves, fixtures, backflow prevention devices, and other associated equipment. Employees are reminded that they represent both the department and the university and are expected to maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance while on duty. The candidate will routinely work with other crafts and will be required to monitor contracted work and provide training to subordinate employees. This position is considered essential, and employees will be required to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to emergencies or natural disasters. This position works under the direct supervision of the Plumbing Supervisor in the Facilities Maintenance department.

Key Competencies:

Being knowledgeable in repairing and servicing plumbing systems and associated fixtures and fittings.

Physical Requirements: Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. Some combinations of climbing and balancing, including climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crawling, working at heights, and working in confined spaces. May involve the lifting of moderately heavy objects, up to 45 pounds. Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manually/electrically powered tools.
