Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Plumbing Field Supervisor to lead our plumbing installation and service crews. This is a working supervisor role — you'll run jobs, operate equipment, and get your hands dirty alongside your team while also planning projects, managing materials, mentoring technicians, and ensuring every job meets our standards. If you can run an excavator in the morning and review job plans in the afternoon, this role was built for you.

Responsibilities

Field Supervision

  • Lead, coordinate, and work alongside plumbing installation and service crews in the field daily
  • Supervise plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance activities ensuring adherence to project plans and safety standards
  • Plan and lay out residential and light-commercial plumbing projects from start to finish
  • Review job scopes, blueprints, schematics, and engineering analyses before work begins
  • Coordinate with project managers, office team, dispatchers, and contractors to schedule work and meet deadlines
  • Order and stage materials for upcoming jobs — ensure crews have what they need before they arrive
  • Manage inventory of materials and tools necessary for plumbing tasks while minimizing waste
  • Inspect work sites regularly to ensure quality workmanship and compliance with blueprints and building codes
  • Operate excavation equipment (mini excavator, skid steer) for sewer and water line projects
  • Run sewer camera inspections, diagnose line conditions, and develop repair/replacement plans
  • Perform quality inspections on completed work before the customer sees it
  • Ensure all work meets Pennsylvania plumbing code, company standards, and manufacturer specifications
  • Enforce safety protocols consistently to maintain a safe working environment for all team members
  • Communicate job status, crew needs, and schedule changes to the office and ownership daily

Hands-On Plumbing — You Still Do the Work

  • Install and repair water supply and drain/waste/vent systems (copper, PEX, PVC/ABS, cast iron)
  • Install and service water heaters (tank and tankless), expansion tanks, recirculation systems, and water treatment equipment
  • Repair and install above-ground gas lines (CSST/FlashShield, black iron) in accordance with code
  • Perform sewer and drain line repairs, replacements, and new installations including excavation work
  • Complete full system rough-ins for new construction, additions, and bathroom remodels
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex plumbing issues that require senior-level experience
  • Proficiently operate hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, welding equipment, and heavy lifting equipment

Team Leadership

  • Train and mentor plumbing technicians and apprentices in proper installation techniques, safety, and company procedures
  • Hold crew members accountable for quality, professionalism, and job site cleanliness
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, ride-alongs, and coaching sessions
  • Set the standard — your crew looks to you for how to do things the right way

Project Coordination

  • Review upcoming job schedules and ensure material, equipment, and crew are ready
  • Review blueprints, schematics, HVAC plans, and mechanical drawings to facilitate accurate installations
  • Document job progress, findings, and completion with photos and notes in Service Titan
  • Manage punch lists, follow-up visits, and warranty callbacks to resolution
  • Identify scope changes in the field and communicate change orders before proceeding

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on residential and light-commercial plumbing experience
  • Extensive knowledge of pipe fitting, pipe threading, schematics reading, and blueprint interpretation
  • Proven ability to plan, lay out, and run plumbing projects independently
  • Experience operating excavation equipment (mini excavator and/or skid steer)
  • Experience running sewer cameras and interpreting line conditions
  • Strong knowledge of Pennsylvania plumbing codes and proper installation practices
  • Proficiency in construction estimating and project planning processes
  • Skilled in welding, carpentry, remodeling, and general construction tasks relevant to plumbing projects
  • Experience ordering materials and coordinating with supply houses
  • Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by basic math skills for measurements and calculations
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Physical ability to lift 75+ lbs and work in various conditions including trenches, crawl spaces, and rooftops

Preferred:

  • Journeyman or Master Plumber license (Pennsylvania)
  • Prior supervisory or crew lead experience
  • Experience with Service Titan or similar field service software
  • Experience with hydro-jetting equipment
  • Backflow certification
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL)
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and mechanical components relevant to plumbing projects
