Plumbing, Heating and Gas Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heating Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating systems in both commercial and residential settings. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. The ideal applicant will have experience with various tools and techniques relevant to heating engineering, ensuring safety and efficiency on all projects.

Duties

  • Install, service, and repair heating systems including boilers, radiators, and associated controls.
  • Conduct routine maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and safety.
  • Diagnose faults accurately using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Utilise soldering, plumbing, carpentry, and assembly skills to modify or in adapt heating components as needed.
  • Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively during installation and repair tasks.
  • Perform heavy lifting of equipment or materials in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Carry out commercial driving duties when required for transporting equipment or materials between sites.
  • Follow technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to complete projects accurately.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed and parts used for each job.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant safety standards and building regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Heating Engineer or similar role within the industry.
  • Proficiency in soldering, plumbing, carpentry, assembly, and use of power tools.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with an understanding of heating system components and operation.
  • Basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
  • Valid driving licence suitable for commercial driving duties.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various environments.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ or City & Guilds in Plumbing or Heating Engineering are desirable but not essential. This position offers an opportunity to develop your career within a reputable organisation committed to quality workmanship and safety standards.

Pay: £17.00-£25.00 per hour
