Plumbing & Heating Engineer – Reactive Maintenance

We’re looking for an experienced Plumbing & Heating Engineer to join our growing reactive maintenance team, primarily covering Plymouth and surrounding areas, with occasional work across the wider South Devon and Exeter region when required.

This role is mainly focused on reactive plumbing and heating work, breakdowns, diagnostics, repairs, and fault-finding, rather than repetitive installation work.

We want engineers who genuinely enjoy solving problems properly, can think for themselves on site, and take pride in getting jobs fixed right first time.

The majority of the work is domestic reactive maintenance, although commercial gas experience or qualifications would be a major advantage as the business continues expanding its commercial maintenance services.

Typical Work

• Boiler breakdowns and fault diagnostics
• Heating and hot water issues
• Reactive plumbing repairs
• Servicing and landlord safety checks
• Emergency call-outs when required
• Occasional boiler and system installations
• Some commercial maintenance work where experience allows

What We’re Looking For

• Gas Safe registered (essential)
• Minimum 5 years’ plumbing & heating experience
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
• Comfortable working independently and managing your own jobs
• Full UK driving licence
• Professional, reliable, and customer-focused
• Comfortable using mobile job management apps
• Able to write clear and professional job reports, notes, and fault findings
• Good communication and organisation skills
• Commercial gas qualifications or experience would be a strong advantage

Accurate reporting is important in this role. We need engineers who can clearly explain what was found, what work was carried out, and what may be required next.

Working Pattern

We’re open to discussing flexible working patterns where possible, provided contracted hours and workload responsibilities are properly covered.
