JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Full-time and Part-time Dispatcher. Under general supervision, operates two-way radios, L.E.A.D.S. equipment, and answers multiple telephone lines to receive and relay information regarding law enforcement, crime prevention, fire-fighting, road maintenance, and general Township operations. Computer skills are necessary for this position. Typing and distribution of reports, and abilities to handle the general public including walk-ins and complaints is a necessity for this position. A position description is available with the employment application referred to below. Full-time wages begin at $22.04 an hour, Lateral transfers up to $25.54 an hour. Lateral transfers receive immediate paid time off after field training and credit for past years of service for computation of vacation accrual rates . Lateral hires can transfer some of their accumulated sick time hours. Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Police and Fire Dispatcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching police and fire units, and providing critical support to fire and law enforcement personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls
- Gather accurate information from callers
- Dispatch appropriate fire and/or law enforcement units to the scene
- Maintain communication with officers in the field
- Transcribe information accurately
- Perform data entry tasks efficiently
- Utilize phone triage techniques when necessary
- Apply conflict management skills in high-pressure situations
Experience:
- Prior experience in dispatching or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and protocols
- Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus
- Strong typing skills to input information quickly and accurately
- Excellent communication skills to negotiate and interact effectively with diverse individuals
