The St. Anthony Police Department is seeking motivated and community-oriented individuals for the position of Police Cadet. The Police Cadet position is a part-time, uniformed, career development position that provides support services to all divisions within the Police Department while serving the communities of St. Anthony, Lauderdale, and Falcon Heights. Cadets work a varied schedule of approximately 29 hours per week, including day, evening and weekends. The department recognizes the importance of academic success and is committed to working collaboratively with cadets to provide scheduling flexibility that supports educational commitments and POST eligibility requirements. To be eligible for hire, applicants must have an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2027 or later from a POST-eligible law enforcement program or related field of study.
The Police Cadet position is designed to provide hands-on law enforcement experience, mentorship, and professional development opportunities while preparing individuals for a successful career in public safety and community-oriented policing. Cadets assist officers and department staff with community engagement initiatives, administrative support functions, traffic and event assistance, report preparation, crime prevention activities, and other police support services. Tuition assistance may be available to assist cadets in completing educational requirements necessary to become Minnesota POST eligible.
