Examples of Duties
Provides law enforcement for the Police Department and ultimately the citizens of Owensboro to ensure productive, safe, efficient, and customer oriented administration of City services using generally accepted law enforcement practices under the direction of designated management with applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
Patrols assigned beat on foot or in/on appropriate police vehicle in order to:
control traffic, prevent crime, prevent disturbance of peace, arrest violators.
May be assigned to other units as well.
Typical Qualifications
To be considered for a lateral transfer, applicant must:

have at least 2 consecutive years of paid experience as a full-time peace officer

must have been employed as a full-time peace officer within the previous 12 months, prior to application date

Be POPS certified and such certification must be portable and obtained without having to attend the OPD or DOCJT Basic Training Academy
