The Sanford Police Department is a community and service-oriented law enforcement agency dedicated to problem-solving. The City of Sanford offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefit package, including a 25 year/no age retirement plan, health insurance, disability insurance, educational pay incentives and an environment conducive to personal growth. Sworn law enforcement service with any law enforcement agency of comparable size and/or equivalent duties and responsibilities will also be considered in starting hourly wage along with the vacation accrual.

All applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.

Certified Police Officers must possess one of the following: Maine Criminal Justice Academy (MCJA) full-time Police Officer Certification or an out-of-state full-time law enforcement certification eligible for MCJA reciprocity.

Non-Certified Police Officers will be sponsored to attend the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. MCJA certification is not required at the time of hire. They must be able to successfully complete the MCJA training and certification requirements.
