Online Written Exams will be dispersed to candidates once receipt of a completed application and must be completed no later than Wednesday April 29, 2026. Candidates that do not pass the written exam will be notified and will not proceed to the agility course.
Physical Agility Course and Oral Boards are scheduled for Wednesday May 6, 2026.
Agility Course will be at the Sports Complex and Check-ins are from 7:00am - 7:30am
Oral Boards will be at the Police Department, Interviews start at 9:00am
Note: Due to the Oral Board Interviews taking place after the Agility Course, there is no formal dress requirement.

Summary
The Police Officer Recruit position is available to non-certified applicants. Candidates who are hired will be sponsored and sent to a state-certified law enforcement academy. Upon successful completion of this academy, the Police Officer Recruit will be promoted to entry-level Police Officer and must successfully complete the Department’s Field Training Officer (FTO) program. At the time of the sponsorship, the candidate must sign an employment agreement with the Town of Firestone.

Police Officer Recruits must:

Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses and Certifications:
Required

Must be 21 years of age at the date of hire

Must possess a High school diploma or GED

Possession of a valid State driver’s license. Capable of maintaining a safe driving record

Candidate must pass the academy, obtain a Colorado POST certification, successfully pass the Standard POST test, and complete the Field Training Program to promote to Police Officer
Preferred

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university

Military training

Minimum of two years of college-level training in police science, criminal justice or a related field

Law enforcement experience at the municipal level
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may also be considered.

Work is regularly performed outdoors and occasionally indoors, with frequent exposure to extreme temperatures and all weather conditions. Body Movement:
