The City of Verona is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven professional to join our team as a
Full-Time Police Records Clerk
. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting public safety and serving the community from behind the scenes.
This position primarily works a daytime schedule, typically
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Ideal candidates are those who can adapt to a variety of shifts, including occasional evenings and weekends, to help meet the needs of a 24/7 public safety operation.
Role
As a Police Records Clerk, you’ll be at the heart of our department’s daily operations. In this role, you will:

Maintain and manage official police records with accuracy and confidentiality

Serve as a key communication hub by operating the police radio base station and answering incoming calls

Perform a wide range of complex clerical and legal support tasks essential to police services

Provide critical administrative support that helps officers and staff serve the community effectively

The Police Records Clerk performs a variety of administrative, records management, and customer service functions that support daily department operations. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and confidential records, transcribing voice dictation, and assisting with communications and documentation.
This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to apply policies and procedures to both routine and complex situations. The position also involves adapting to changing priorities, improving workflows, and completing clerical and administrative tasks efficiently and accurately.

Must be a U.S. citizen

Must have obtained a High school diploma or GED

Must have no criminal or arrest history that is substantially related to the duties of the position

Must have demonstrated the ability to perform administrative and records management functions with accuracy and confidentiality

Must have proficiency in basic computer applications, including word processing, data entry, and document transcription

Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a professional office environment
Compensation & Benefits
Starting pay ranges from
$22.67 per hour
for candidates without direct experience to
$30.49 per hour,
depending upon qualifications and prior experience. The City of Verona offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, paid vacation, holidays, sick leave, Social Security, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
