Police Records Technician II

Under the supervision of the Records Supervisor, performs administrative and clerical tasks such as records management, data entry, transcribing, customer service, confidential assignments and other related assigned activities.

DUTIES

Prepares and maintains police related records and files. Reviews and ensures the accuracy and completeness of records, forms, documents, etc. Responsible for maintaining confidential records, compiling stats, completing background checks, and issuing handgun permits. May assist in Freedom of Information (FOIA) requests. Provides clerical assistance to investigators.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must pass a criminal background investigation

High school diploma or equivalent

General knowledge of structure, policies, and procedures of municipal government

Experience with Microsoft Office

Ability to transcribe dictation and type 55 wpm accurately

Four years of experience in an office setting is preferred

Experience in problem solving, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and working with deadlines

Ability to establish effective working relationships, use good judgement, take initiative, and be resourceful

Ability to provide excellent customer service to the public

Ability to establish professional working relationships with co-workers, Township officials, and representatives from other municipalities
